Sail along with the special trip to th seal's island and watch the launch of the horse lifeboat from the seaside! This combination boat trip is indicated in our sailing program with the letters RP and lasts approximately 2.5 - 3 hours. The horse lifeboat foundation organizes this demonstration several times a year in which ten strong horses pull the life boat on a trailer to the Southwest beach. This demonstration is an event that recalls earlier times when the lifeboat was used in rescue operations at sea. Eight horses pull the five-ton lifeboat on the trailer over the dunes, the beach and through the surf into the water. Finally, two horses launch the three-and-a-half-ton lifeboat and four pull the trailer back to the beach. The crew sails around and usually stops by for a closer look at the lifeboat. The ship is wheelchair accessible, but there is limited space for wheelchairs.
