Originally, there were no forests on Ameland. Around 1895, Rijkswaterstaat started planting woods on Ameland. The forests had to protect the villages from wind and sand. This makes the woods on Ameland very special. The forest and dune tour introduces you to a beautiful and unique nature reserve, where there is plenty to see and experience. If you are curious to hear the stories told during a wonderful trip, join one of the excursions. This tour is given in Dutch. Pets are not allowed on this tour!
